About
I created Elm Tree Words in 2020, and as is the nature of small business, I’ve since niched down into copyediting and proofreading for academics, students, and businesses, and supporting business owners write their books and courses.
Having worked in research at universities, leadership positions in not-for-profits, and written social policies for local government, I love reading, writing, helping , and perhaps most importantly, learning.
I love learning (and challenges?!) so much that I started my PhD in 2022, which means I completely understand where so many of you are coming from.
And for you academics in the room, I specialise in qualitative research and social sciences, and in particular Gerontology and Disability Studies.
I genuinely enjoy supporting writers to (finally) get their work “out there” …and off their to do list!
I look forward to connecting with you on LinkedIn, via my Contact page, or by email and hearing about what you’re working on and how I can support you to get it submitted, sent, and published.
Take care,
Andrea
And now for some random facts (because this is often the best part of an about me page)…
I’m a frequent undergraduate assignment marker because yes, some people really DO enjoy marking. If you’re looking for one, contact me below.
My PhD aims to identify factors that support older adults with an intellectual disability in Australia to age in place.
I’ve lived, worked, and studied in Hamilton (Canada), Leeds (England), Vancouver (Canada), and now Melbourne (Australia).
I used to be a competitive synchronised swimmer, coach, and judge.
My (Aussie) partner and I met while on a three day bus tour in Ireland (true story). We moved to Australia in 2010, and have a son and a daughter, two cats, and a house surrounded by hills, trees, birds of all sorts, and the occasional sighting of a wombat, echidna, kangaroo, or wallaby on walks along the creek and around the neighbourhood.
