The most common work I help clients with include:

  • correct and consistent formatting (line spacing, font size and style, page numbering, headings, margins, etc)

  • editorial consistency (spelling, capitalisation, abbreviations, hyphenations, etc…)

  • grammatical errors (incorrect word choice, punctuation, etc…)

  • consistent and properly defined acronyms, abbreviations, and initialisms

  • correct labelling of tables, figures, graphs, images, and referencing

  • general readability, clarity, and conciseness

  • all links and hyperlinks are working

  • all dates and email addresses are correct

  • setting up templates (both internal and external facing)

  • creating forms and surveys

  • other work by negotiation


How much does it cost?

Depending on the nature of the work required you will be charged either an hourly or per word count rate.

Factors impacting hourly vs word count include the nature of the work for example, strictly writing or editing vs formatting and checking links. Other factors impacting cost include the quantity and quality of work received, the nature of the work expected, negotiated turnaround time, and frequency of communication among others.

Generally the more polished the work I receive, the less time I need to spend, resulting in a lower cost for you.

My minimum rate is $85 (plus GST) for anything under one hour or less than 1000 words.


How does it work?

Step One
We have an initial 20minute chat to discuss your goals, timeframes, nature of work you’d like completed, and how we will work together. This is also where we discuss any existing branding or style guides.*

Step Two
I prepare a custom no obligation quote (including tips and suggestions) so you get a feel for how I can take your work to the next level.

Step Three
Once you’ve accepted your quote and paid the initial 50%, I get started on the agreed work.

Step Four
Once the agreed work is completed, I send you through an invoice for the remaining amount.

Step Five
We keep in touch so I can hear about your progress and help support you and your work going forward, including connecting you with other great businesses and brands.

What else should I know?

I generally work in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Docs, Google Forms, Adobe, Qualtrics, and Canva among others.

If you have a website or other formatted, professionally designed document it’s easier and quicker if I can work with the original document and access the backend of your website.

Some people want to meet frequently or like seeing everything in track changes, and others don’t. We’ll negotiate how much you want to see and be involved before we get started.

I’m here to support and edit your work to make it look and function best. At the end of the day however, what you publish and share remains your final decision and responsibility.

One of the benefits of having a retainer is that you pay a fixed monthly fee in advance for ongoing hourly services. Let’s say you pay in advance for 5 hours of work per month, this guarantees you’ve got my eyes and expertise over your work for the agreed amount of hours and nature of work. *If you don’t have a style guide, or know what one is, that’s ok! I’ve got one here. Trust me. It may take a bit to get it set up, but once established, they save you heaps of time and money in the long run.
